In DT we have been designing and making our very own boats, just like the boat in the story we are focusing on, Mr Gumpy's Outing. They look great - can you spot yours? We will test them out on Monday to find out if they float! What do you think will happen?
Hello Year 1s!
We are reception class from Brandon Primary School and we have also been making boats in our classroom. We read the story of 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers and were investigating which materials were best to make a boat to get to the North Pole. There are some pictures on our blog but we would love to know if your boats float and which materials you used were best?

Hello Reception! Thanks for commenting on our boats, we like yours too! We have been learning about floating and sinking, and waterproof materials. I wonder if the children can tell you which materials we used...

We used a cork and polystyrene to make the base.

We used a skewer and some paper to make the sail.

Our boats are good because they float.
